Frontier Communications Corp (NASDAQ:FTR) have launched a private and secure cloud offering ‘connect-cloud’ that aims to provide businesses with dedicated access to the cloud service providers. The product is looking to cater to the ever-increasing demand for real-time threat detection, digital transactions, data sovereignty and interactions as they connect with the cloud providers.
Tapping Its Ethernet Network Breadth
With the launch, Frontier is seeking to leverage its Ethernet network to provide the customers with a cloud connection for highly private, secure, and dedicated access of their businesses to third-party enablers.
Frontier believes there’s a rising demand for cloud connectivity for enterprises because the cloud enables acceleration of workloads. To boost that connectivity, they claim they have entered into a partnership with Equinix in making sure that the enterprises’ cloud needs are fulfilled.
The launch of connect-cloud by Frontier implies that the company will improve cloud application performance for several enterprises as well as reduce latency issues. According to Frontier, fostering software development, they will be able to enable application innovation as well as bringing visibility into the enterprise networks.
Problems Solved
Frontier says that the visibility will for sure pave the way for the instant threat detection as well as mitigation of the cyber risks. Furthermore, they believe along with the security, and enterprises will have the opportunity to be able to provide scalable as well as easy to deploy cloud services irrespective of their size or even geographic locations.
The service is meant to use software-defined networking to connect the users privately to Equinix ecosystem that has over 100 cloud service providers that use the Equinix cloud exchange Fabric that offers direct connectivity to over 1,000 participants.
Already Frontier offers cloud services via several other partnerships with cloud providers as well as through its cloud. However, the collaboration with Equinix is seen to set new standards of the network performance as well as cloud services for the competitors. Following Equinox’s $85.3 million data center investment in Singapore, it will certainly be interesting to see how they will help Frontier with the alliance.
