iQIYI Inc (NASDAQ:IQ) ‘The Golden Eyes’ drama series is enjoying tremendous success in the international markets ahead of its official premiere on iQIYI in China. iQIYI has announced a successful sale of distribution rights for the series to a number of notable networks including Astro- Malaysian Chanel, Singapore-based Starhub and the Rakuten Viki platform with coverage in the United States, Europe, and India.
iQIYI’s Stock Performance
With the successful sale of the distribution rights prior to the official release date, things are expected to look bright in terms of revenue and stock performance for the Chinese entertainment company. As of the recent business day, iQIYI stock closed at $27.46 having shed 3% off its opening price. Even so, the company still has an enormous market share of $19.29 billion.
The series is expected to show in overseas networks upon its official debut on iQIYI. Versions of the show with diverse local translations are scheduled for release in different Asian countries like Cambodia, Thailand and South Korea.
The Golden Eye’s Plot
The Golden Eyes feature prominent Chinese actors including Zhang Yixing and Wang Zixuan. The show is based on author Dayan’s online novel with the same title. The story is anchored on a pawn shop worker who comes across a rare antique in which he contracts magical powers.
Like many of iQIYI’s original series, The Golden Eyes is a high-quality production with intriguing storytelling. If iQIYI’s previous productions like “Tientsin Mystic” and “the Burning Ice” are anything to go by, then it is certain that drama lovers are in for a treat with the new franchise.
According to Chen Xiao, iQIYI’s Vice President, “The speed at which international networks have snapped up broadcast rights to ‘The Golden Eyes’ – before it has even been broadcast on our platform – is a clear indication of the increasing demand for iQIYI content overseas.” Mr. Chen is confident that ‘the Golden Eyes’ will be a delight to its viewers adding that his company is endeavored to producing more quality works in the future.
